How GPA Is Calculated
GPA = Total Grade Points ÷ Total Credit Hours. Each course contributes grade points equal to (grade value × credit hours). For example, an A (4.0) in a 3-credit course contributes 12.0 grade points.

- 3.7 - 4.0: A range (Excellent)
- 3.3 - 3.69: B+ range (Very Good)
- 3.0 - 3.29: B range (Good)
- 2.0 - 2.99: C range (Satisfactory)
- Below 2.0: Below average / Academic probation

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate total grade points?
Multiply each course's grade value (A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0) by its credit hours, then sum all the products. For example: A in 3 credits (12) + B in 4 credits (12) = 24 total grade points.
What is the maximum GPA?
On the standard 4.0 scale, the maximum GPA is 4.0. Some institutions allow up to 4.3 with A+ grades.
Does this calculate cumulative or semester GPA?
It calculates whichever totals you enter. For semester GPA, enter only that semester's points and credits. For cumulative, enter your all-time totals.
