Drywall Calculator
Calculate the number of 4x8 ft drywall sheets needed for your walls.
Drywall (also called plasterboard or gypsum board) is the standard material for interior walls and ceilings. Accurately estimating the number of sheets prevents multiple trips to the supplier and reduces waste.
A standard drywall sheet measures 4 x 8 feet (1.22 x 2.44 m), covering about 2.97 square meters. This calculator multiplies wall length by height by the number of walls, then divides by the sheet area and rounds up.
For rooms with doors and windows, the total sheet count may be slightly higher than needed — but offcuts from openings are often too small to reuse efficiently. Buy one or two extra sheets for mistakes and patches. Drywall also comes in 4x10 and 4x12 ft sheets, which reduce joints on taller walls.
