DNA Base Pair Calculator
Calculate AT/GC base pair counts, molecular weight, and hydrogen bonds from sequence length and GC content.
The DNA Base Pair Calculator estimates the composition of a double-stranded DNA molecule based on its length and GC content percentage.
Enter the total number of base pairs and the GC content (percentage of bases that are G or C). The calculator determines the number of GC pairs, AT pairs, estimated molecular weight (using ~649 Da per base pair), and total hydrogen bonds (3 per GC pair, 2 per AT pair).
GC content affects DNA stability because GC pairs have three hydrogen bonds compared to two for AT pairs. Higher GC content means higher melting temperature and greater stability.
